Good news for the North of Scotland, and for the future of rail services in the North. Conon Bridge is 2 miles from Dingwall and 3 1/2 miles from Muir of Ord, around 18 miles from Inverness by Rail but only 10 miles by road because of the Kessock Bridge. Fortunatly due to traffic at peak times it is roughly the same amount in bus car or train. There is going to be pro-longed period of rennovation work on the Kessock Bridge next year, so this will benefit the patronage of a new station Here.
Good to see it will be a 4 car platform, as they said for a while it would be a 12m station like Beauly.
The timetables have had slack put into them of an extra 3 minutes between Muir of ord and Dingwall for the last 3 years to save changing the timetable when this station would eventually be given the go ahead.
We will now need more trains or longer trains at peak times now as some of them have standing room only. Personally would like to see an hourly shuttle between Dingwall and Inverness calling all stations, and longer distances only calling at stations with crossovers south of Dingwall.
