Any know if any railway magazines planning to use Apples newsstand?
Isn't it about time Rail etc went online like the Railway Herald?

I hope you mean as well as, not instead of, also being in print. Railway Herald has some very interesting stuff, but you can call me an old stick-in-the-mud, but you can't beat a printed hard copy.

All the Mortons Media magazines (Heritage Railway, Rail Express and Railway Magazine) are available in electronic format.

Apples onerous licenseing terms may be one of the reasons RAIL does not use newsstand.

*30% goes to apple when someone buys subscription in the app.
*apple does not allow any way to buy subscription from out side the app.
*apple keep subscribers info, publishers not allowed access to it.
    *uniform pricing of magazines

Yeah, but with a tablet version, done properly, you get additional features like videos and audio and interactive graphics. Plus the publication is there instantly without you having to visit a shop.

Also sometimes the tablet version is cheaper.
Yes they do. Plenty of publications allow you to do that. I myself have a Times subscription I purchased on their website, which is a much better deal than subscribing through the app(s).
    "Uniform" pricing?

Apple seem to be in favour of discontinuing that:
    From Macrumors.com
You can't charge more for an Apple newsstand purchase to offset the 30% cut Apple take
