Morning Forum members.

I need to travel tomorrow from Newton-Le-Willows to Bedford to arrive around 1230 and then leave Bedford around 1400 to travel to Wolverhampton when I intend to overnight. On Thursday I will leave Wolverhampton around 1700 to travel back to Newton-Le-Willows.

Can I be advised on whether an Anytime Newton-Le-Willows - Bedford Return will allow me to complete this journey and if not, the most suitable option for ticketing?

Many thanks

Without checking the fares I suspect that an Off Peak Return would do the job for you.

My less than extensive knowledge believes that an off peak return from NLW has to be routed via Chesterfied.
That wont allow me to travel to Wolverhampton on the same ticket. Any advice welcome as I need to book this afternoon!

Both via Chesterfield & via London have peak & Off peak versions. Do you want to travel via London or do you intend to travel via Bletchley and Bedford St Johns?
If you want to go via Bletchley splitting tickets at Bletchley would be cheaper.

If you could arrive into Bedford for 1245, then you could purchase the Off Peak Return Liverpool-Bedford WMR&LNR only at £39.50, this ticket isn't valid until the 0834 from Liverpool, with changes at Stafford and Milton Keynes and Bletchley.

This ticket would also allow you to travel back via Wolverhampton, break your journey overnight, and travel back the next day at around 1700.

No longer relevant to the OP, but not true. The 'via London' ticket would undoubtedly be valid for travel via Wolverhampton on the way to or from London. And then you went an found another one!

I have seen there are delays on the Trent Valley the OP intended routing today, i wouldl hope that they have allowed travel via Birmingham and on other operators.

The OP did indeed get delayed. Stopped at Atherston for nearly 2 hours and then terminated at Rugby. Very sad if it was a suicide ... and puts matters into perspective.

As my meeting was at 1300 it went ahead without me and I turned around at Rugby and made my way to Wolverhampton. On the ticket check from Birmingham New Street the Train Manager wrote 19/12 on my ticket so I am hoping there will be no issues tomorrow evening when I travel back from Wolverhampton.

Hope you don't mind me bringing this thread back up, but just wanted to add that I submitted a delay repay claim through London North Western Railways on Wednesday 2nd January and LNWR settled the claim on Friday 4th January .. really impressed with their Delay Repay processes!
