Following a few of us getting confused by the use of nicknames for trains (eg Skoda for a class 90) I thought it would be useful/helpful if we could compile a list of trains and nicknames to hopefully prevent future confusion :)

TBH I only know a few really,

37 = Tractor
66 = Shed
67 = Skip
90 = Skoda

Commuters worst nightmare. It will never happen, one of these peterborough to london, unless things with one get worse and they trade more 360s for a load of 144s, and what about running 317s to peterborough, the one i saw yesterday hadn't had an overhaul since 1994, still in part nse livery.

Why are 321s called dusty bins, it must be 1 persons boring experience of putting a mcdonalds bag in a bin and noticing dust under the rim, something that belongs on hometruths. Although that show aint too bad especially the one where they talk about the women who is dfead but still alive and you had to work out the mistake....

Thats a good name. They put them on the services to london but they get so crowded you have to cram right in now they stop at unusual stops like witham, never used to stop before but now i have a direct link to peterborough and norwhich with only needing to change once to get to york!!

NB. Alex, AdTranz created the 'Turbostar' name and brand. For the record, I like 170s, Standard Class on thems very comfy.

I wasn't too fond of Turbostars when they first arrived, but they've grown on me.. kinda cute trains really.

Not very flattering nicknames for Pacers here! I personally refuse to ride on them for a number of reasons.. obviously the ride quality, and secondly their build. If, heaven forbid, there was ever an accident, I'd rather be on a solid train that wouldn't fold up like an accordion on impact.. I mean look at what happened to the 142 as a result of a low speed collision with a Virgin express!

Nickname = Death trap

Cola can?

I seriously question how H&S let them run and not Mk1 stock (any trouble with the latter is the luser's own fault). Of course, Mk1 stock runs in the SE which explains it.
