Back in Nottingham,*NCT's South Notts "The One" or N1 is the only service operating other than just fri/sat nights only on the NCT network, however only 6 nights per week (no service last thing Sunday night/mon mornings).
Facebook also played a part in creating the N100 service to the small town of Southwell 15 miles east of the city. Passengers asked for it, promising they'd use the service & 18 months on it's still going, thanks to NCT listening to their customers & giving it a try.

I was sure the N100 had run for many years - but it seems it was withdrawn and then reinstated following the campaign.

To be fair most Hertfordshire bus services finished around that time 10 years ago when I used to live in the area. It's not a recent phenomenon at all and to claim that it's "funding cuts" is particularly disingenuous.

The only exception tended to be the 724 where the last journey from Heathrow used to run through St Albans, Hatfield and Welwyn well after 11pm.

There have been huge cuts in the bus budget in Hertfordshire in the last couple of years. The last bus from Hitchin to Letchworth used to be around 2300 but is now 1910.

Sorry - that's incorrect - take a look at the 700, there's a journey around 9 ish from Hitchin - Letchworth.

It's also worth noting there are at least 2 trains an hour between Hitchin snd Letchworth to beyond midnight, so they're not exactly isolated.

Yes, there is that one.

However the last all-stops bus is at 1910 - I'm comparing an evening service of every half hour until 2300 in addition to the two-hourly express bus to suggest there have been cuts.

The town centres are still linked but places futher afield and between them aren't - most of the services carried on beyond Letchworth to various housing estates.

All of Leicester's buses have normally stopped running by 23:45. which sucks an awful lot really...

First ran a network of six supported nightbus routes about a decade ago, but those did not last long.

East Midlands Airport also acts as a hub for nightbus connections for the 3 main cities, it's easy through the night to travel between Leicester, Derby & Nottingham via EMA.*

Indeed, the Skylink has now given Leicester a nightbus route at least along the A6 corridor to the north of the city, and they operate in all-stop mode rather than limited-stop as during the day. In fact, if you ask the drivers nicely, they will stop at very convenient locations for you.

In its previous life, it ran via the A47 and A50 corridors and offered a connection between the City Centre, Braunstone and Groby.

From the end of next month, the 635 will run with guaranteed connections to the 700 so you can once again travel all the way from Hatfield to Stansted Airport... which means they will rework the timetable... don't know if this will improve the situation - the 625 is being extended to cover the 635's gap! :)

It will be a stopping service, but still far less frequent than the previous service.

I don't know how much of the daytime service is supported but the frequency between Hitchin and Letchworth provided by Arriva dropped from every 10 minutes to every 30 minutes. That has recently been supplemented by the 625/635 but we'll see how long they run for (the very early/late journeys didn't last very long at all).
