I would like to travel from London to Cornwall in the early hours of Monday 13th August.
Various websites suggest that there is a train from Paddington to Bristol at 0230. They also show a 0524 train from Bristol to Cornwall.
However when I check the First Great Western on-line timetables, I cannot find either of these trains. Do these trains exist ? If so which timetable booklet are they in? Has anyone travelled on them? Would I be able to get a bit of shut eye on the first train ? What catering is there on board ?
Any help would be appreciated.

I can see a 0524 Bristol Temple Meads-Newquay (for Monday-Friday, I can't check weekends), but I can't see anything from Paddington at the time you state, the last one is 2330 from Paddington, into Temple Meads at 0129.

The 0230 will be an Olympic special probably ran by 67s and MK2s. I thought they only ran on demand though

At the risk of stating the obvious, have you looked at the Night Riviera sleeper? 2350 from Paddington. Better chance of a snooze!

I finish work at 0100 in West London so its got to be after 0200. Otherwise I'd love to take the Night Sleeper.

During the Olympics there are additional HSTs to Exeter and Cardiff (both via Bristol) at 00.30 and 01.00. For the opening and closing ceremonies I belive the Cardiff goes atr 02.30.

Apart from that, usually, no trains go to Bristol after the 23.45 sleeper.

Thank you kar3emosman, you've found it for me and I found a better train at 0200. I 'd like to check with FGW that it's actually going to run. Does anyone have a phone number for the Olympic specials department?

I doubt theres a special department

They probably would have had one in setting it all up with a view to timetables and staffing requirements - I know my TOC and a few others ahve all had specialist teams planning for the Olympics.

Your best bet though is to just ring up their Custoer services dept asa usual and they will have all the info you require

Thank you Clip, having looked at the website it seems you have to hold a ticket to the games (or be a volunteer) to obtain a games train ticket. However it doesn't say you cannot travel on an ordinary ticket on a special Olympic games train.

I cant see the pic but if its the one about the Games tickets that doesnt mean a holder of a normal ticket cannot be on the train also. Just that you must hold a ticket for an event or be a volunteer to be able to purchase Games train tickets

I still can not see these very early trains being exactly "rammed"
