I understand from a friend in Paris that no Eurostar services operated today due to the French government's, hopefully temporary, closure of the France/UK border as a Covid-19 precaution. Can anyone on here confirm that and - if so- is it the first time that this has happened since the inauguration of the service in November 1994?

Maybe there was no service in the immediate aftermath of the fires that they have had in the tunnel. Then of course there was the day they moved from Waterloo to St Pancras.

Did they stop completely for a day when they moved from Waterloo to St Pancras? I though it was an early finish followed by a late start the following day. I was on the very last Eurostar into Waterloo and I think that it got in a bit before 20.00.

You might be correct there - I might be getting confused with a day they didn't run due to engineering work.

Yes, an overnight switch, including the depot from North Pole to Temple Mills (which was an incredible logistical effort).

Just managed with an earlier finish and a later start than usual.

Possibly was a day to connect all the track etc up for the second phase of HS1 (but that was well before the actual passenger switchover).

Justin on Eurostar ( a Eurostar Train Manager on Twitter ) tweeted images of a St Pancras - Paris return trip that he has covered on duty today. It ran.

RTT also says that both it and the Amsterdam train pair ran.

Didn't the melting snow/ice ingestion problem cancel a days services? I remember being on a London service from Brussels that turned back at Calais.

This Monday the restricted service of one London-Paris each way, plus the Amsterdam services each way did in fact run. My friend in France had been misinformed due to an error on the Eurostar website, which was corrected later in the day.
