One from this afternoon (Monday 6th).

Around 14.40 a southbound intermodal left Basford Hall with a rather shiny DBS dark blue loco.

Anybody able to offer an id?

Thanks.

Please could somebody fill me in the formations of all Cardiff to Manchester services that gain coaches along the way, according to Real Time Trains? I've seen at least 4 or 5. Thank you.

At present 1W43 runs from Carmarthen at 07:30 booked a single 153, and adds another 153 at Cardiff.
1W07, 10:30 ex Cardiff is booked 150+153+153 throughout.
1W09 10:25 ex Swansea runs as a single 175 Swansea to Cardiff, then picks up another 175 at Cardiff to take to Crewe where it divides, the one added at Cardiff continues to Manchester, the one from Swansea forms a Holyhead
1w26 15:29 Milford to Manchester is booked 158 but normally runs 150, conveys a 153 which does a Pembroke Dock from Swansea back to Cardiff where it divides and the 153 goes to Canton.
1w50 21:10 Cardiff to Chester runs as 2 175s, one set comes ecs from Swansea, the other ecs off Canton. At crewe they divide with one going to Chester and the other to Crewe carriage shed.

Thank you very much for that detailed response!

This is an interesting one actually. The portion originating from Swansea goes to Holyhead, which means that any passengers for stations between Swansea and Cardiff need to change units at Crewe, because the added unit at Cardiff goes onto Manchester. This technically doesn't make the Swansea to Manchester service a through service per se. It would make more sense for the Cardiff portion to form the Holyhead service however at Crewe the Holyhead departs at 1434 and the Manchester at 1435. Still, for Swansea to Manchester passengers (not that there'd be that many at the moment), it's not a huge issue to swap at Crewe. I just hope that between Cardiff and Crewe passengers are advised to travel in the right unit, as whilst it's not listed as a dividing service, it is in effect one!

Yes that's correct, In reality due to the lack of gangways every time I've taken it over the rear set is locked out anyway between Cardiff and Crewe.
The 1435 Manchester departure only came in this week. It was 1430 until then and still is on our job cards!

Interesting one. I'm isolating at my parents house at the moment (they live on the South Wales Main Line near Ely Bridge) and I've seen a few doubled units but not many.

Afternoon, hope everyone is keeping well today.

Would anyone happen to know what (loco hauled test train?) is due through Crawley at 4pm today please?

I have added the link from Real Time Trains below with the service in question.

I might take a wander down the local park to see it pass by for my 1x daily exercise if it's something like a 37 or 73.

Thank you

Ben

Please could someone advise the 37 in BR blue with small logo/number on 025R 1200 Carlisle to Derby R.T.C.(Network Rail) today. Tried to coincide seeing it with the shopping but just missed it as it came through Shipley early. Thank you.
