I've noted that part of North London Line is closed (Gospel oak to Stratford) from boxing day till the 3rd of January.

What's the work that's being done? Is it connected to the KINGS cross works?

Seems major if it's closed for so long, busy freight routes out of action if Camden Road is closed.

I have tried google, but can't see much info on it. Tfl weekly email doesn't seem to mention the reason for the closures anymore.

If you look in the buses section on the TfL festive email it gives the answer:

From Sunday 27 December until Sunday 3 January

Full closure of Camden Road and Chalk Farm Road

Camden Road will be closed until 05:00 on Thursday 31 December and again from 10:00 on Thursday 31 December until 23:59 on Sunday 3 January, while Network Rail carries out works on Camden Road Bridge.

Chalk Farm Road will also be closed in both directions at the junction of Castlehaven Road from 08:00 on Sunday 27 December until 20:00 on Tuesday 29 December and again from 06:00 on Thursday 31 December (New Year's Eve) until 23:59 on Sunday 3 January.

Stratford is also seeing some of the last LNER style OHLE that is due for partial replacement being replaced.

LTS Freight will be diverted to run via the T&H to reach the WCML due to NLL closure as outlined and also the GEML closure at Stratford. GE Freight is all running via Ely, Peterborough, Leicester and Nuneaton to reach the WCML as the line through Colchester is closed 25/12 until 03/01 inclusive due to engineering works at Colchester itself.

Does that mean freight from Felixstowe is being routed directly via the Bacon Chord, Stowmarket, Ely, Peterborough, Leicester and Nuneaton?
