Dear All,
Below is a copy of a letter put out today by Londonlines. It Reads thus:
New Trains for the North London Line
Train builder Bombardier is to supply the North London Railway and East London Line (London Rail Concession) with 152 Electrostar electric multiple unit vehicles similar to the successful Class 357 units used by c2c and the Class 376 units used by South Eastern.
The units will be serviced at a purpose built depot at New Cross Gate in East London and delivery will begin in July 2008, with the last unit delivered in May 2009. Included in the contract are options for the manufacture of an additional 196 cars.
Should we be successful in winning the bid for the london Rail Concession which we are working together at the moment, we look forward to overseeing the introduction of these new trains, and delivering a step change in passenger services on the new route.
(ends)
I will reserve comment on this matter at this time and let yourselfs do the honour of commenting on it instead.
