Had 142019 today and what a true Northern Experience that was. Some headrests were all out of cushion, seats all worn, cracks in wall, floor mat was up and some rude person left their left over curry on the train seat.

Also experienced 142022 was better but slower.

PS Anyone wanting to bash some Northern 153s in the Manchester area before they go, they seem to be quite common on the Clitheroe/Blackburn - Rochdale via Bolton and vv diagrams at present - often attached to an ex-FGW 150.

Had 142019 today and what a true Northern Experience that was.

Do you mind me asking where on the network you caught 142019? It is one of the two I need for haulage.

Yesterday evening I had 142012 from Salford Crescent to Todmorden (train continued round the Tod Curve to Blackburn).

This morning I had 142004 from Hebden Bridge to Salford Crescent (train continued to Southport).

I am actually going to miss them, particularly those with a decent size luggage/bike rack at the end of one of the carriages and original bus-style seats. I am quite worried that they will be aggressively withdrawn next year before enough trains have arrived to replace them, and the already dire amount of cancellations and short forming will get even worse.
