Oooh, interesting one from Barnsley, footex back to Leeds composed of THREE 142s, 089, 095 & 096!

I did laugh at their choice of stock for a foot ex. 3 142's can't be a coincidence!

Everybody was well behaved and no 142's were harmed. Perhaps Northern can keep a few 142's for football specials.

A few other interesting formations around through Barnsley today too.

Sorry for late post - had to get my beer and pub log up to date first :p

Yesterday (14th) in the Manchester area.
142064 (coupled with 150204) on Alderley - Wigan - Stalyvegas diagrams as were the 142037 and 045 combo
142029, 054 and 009 noted at Piccadily along with a couple more unidentified
142057 coupled with 150105 on Rose Hill diagrams

144014 on Leeds - Selby shuttles; the 1652 ex Selby was a rip roaring ride and spot on time.:)

On a 142 rear unit of the 09:50 Alderley Edge to Southport, number unknown as not especially interested. However they would be good for weekday peak-hour services where journeys are generally fairly short. I'd rather have a seat/stand on Pacer than be stranded on the platform!

Last time I saw it was about two weeks ago having failed at Darlington. The warm stored ones have to be run at least once in 28 days as they'll need an exam. Number 66 has exceeded the time limit now so I suspect it needs money spending on it. Very suprised if it's seen again in service. Could be wrong though..

Currently sat on one of the damm things at the moment as Northern seem to have started sometimes putting them on the 17-42 York to Leeds via Harrogate instead of the normal 155.

142018 for anyone interested.

142047 on the Morecambe branch this morning.

You know what happened to this unit as it was meant to go to Heysham Port but instead remained at Bare Lane due to a train fault for almost 2 hours. it would seem going by RTT a 156 came to rescued it as the train that arrives into Carlisle did not head to Preston but headed to Morecambe it would seem to rescued the failed 142. It would appear the 142+156 combo remained for the rest of the day as it was kept on getting routed into platform 2 at Lancaster instead of 1, so I'm guessing platform 1 at Lancaster can't take a 4 car train? Am I right with all that!?

1000 Leeds to Knottingley was a 153/142 combination today. No numbers sat to far back at the level xing. Do yet have crew in both units as they don't have a corridor connection?

I didn’t realise that there was problems on the Morecambe branch yesterday Paul. I got the first one off Bare Lane at 06:02 and was travelling on 350’s between Manchester Airport and Oxenholme until I got back to Lancaster at 16:20 and got 142078 home on a Leeds to Morecambe service.
You are correct about platform 1 at Lancaster, it is a lot shorter than platform 2 but I’m not sure what it can actually hold.

Not sure how/when the rescue came about, but it was certainly 142+156 late afternoon through to last service.

Changes afoot ? The three Evening Man P - Sheffield and return stoppers were very recently all 142x2 diagrams but over the last few nights these have been a combo of a single 142 , 156/142 or 150/142 , a sign that the North West is cascading there Pacers to Yorkshire ? To add to that quite a large number have been seen in Sheffield , with many different numbers popping up .

Sadly I missed the number of the one on the 15:02 Sheffield to Leeds, that had brake issues before Meadowhall, but it was on it's way back to Sheffield around 15:25 today ...

142023 on the 1810 from MBR, in all its bus seat glory. Heavy rain in the N E so running with condensation and rain on inside of the B4 panel. Floor not too bad actually.
