Northern Class 142 sightings

On my way into Piccadilly yesterday afternoon, there were two Pacers in Longsight on the wheel lathe side. They were parked at the very far south end of the siding - think it was on the same line as the new platform they built recently for the 323s to use.

Unfortunately, I wasn't able to i/d them as I was bowled by a double sprinter. Not sure whether they were just awaiting another turn or in storage.

144 pacer visited Bridlington today 1040 from York. Seems to be regular turn. Cd be longest one atm. It was on time too!
Anyone know the number?

Possibly my last ever ride on a 142, which made me a bit sad as I grew up with them.

Was pleased it was one with the "original" bus seat layout.

Interesting it is shown on the back as Blackpool South - I overheard the crew having a quick discussion about whether that was the right thing to do or not but they concluded it was (and I agree).

Looks like that's as far East as they'll get in service now, and then it's not certain well caught

Indeed well done , I was in Doncaster this morning catching 91's and the odd 144 for their last Xmas on the network would have been well happy with this

242090 is earning its crust. One of the better interiors although had a resonance through the unit and smell of diesel to spoil the effect this afternoon. Late on the 15.45 out of Sheffield, held for late running EMR service.

Always held for that, would have been on the 15:45 if it wasn’t Christmas, always lovely to see a pacer turn up

Good shot of 142036. It is rather fitting that the 142s have been the mainstay of the Blackpool South line for over 30 years, considering they call at Blackpool Pleasure Beach. The ride on the 142s that brought visitors there wouldn't have been quite as 'lively' as the Pespi Max however!

Was just the one today, 142035 on beam mills central to Manchester piccadily with a 150/1

In addition to information already supplied I can add the following:
142 011 and 150 115 were working the 15:17 Southport to Alderley Edge and return and were seen at Manchester Victoria about 20:59 before departing ECS (RTT suggests they went to Ardwick rather than NH).
142 047 and 150 130 worked the 16:08 Wigan NW to Stalybridge.
After shuttling between Kirkby and Manchester Victoria 142 058 ended up on the 19:46 Kirkby to Blackburn via Rochdale, and 142 041 ended up on the 20:08 Wigan NW to Stalybridge.
142 036 was with 158 908 and seen at Manchester Victoria on the 19:10 Clitheroe to Rochdale.
there were also at least three sets stabled at NH but it was too dark to make any positive identification.

142055 made an appearance on the 19.56 from Lime Street yesterday.

Suppose it makes a change to the rancid 150's that we are now stuck with on 99% of the Liverpool to Oxford Rd services!

Both Sheffield Hope valley stoppers are 150s at the moment, seen 1 leave Manchester and the other was in Sheffield when I got there.
