The 9:35 Kirkby to Manchester Vic does not have a 142 on it on Saturdays. Until two weeks ago the Saturday 10:35 Kirkby to Manchester Vic had a 142/150 combi on it, but the last two Saturdays it has just been a 150/1.
Thanks - helpful to know. Looks like I should head for Rochdale.

Yes, I noted that from the posts ref last w/e. Maybe some other routes?

Got to use these newspaper vouchers for something of note! I can't recall 1st time I rode on a Pacer, but presumably it was 1980s too.
rochdale to clitheroe is probably the only option for a 142 at a weekend

It does seem to be that on a Saturday, the Rochdale to Blackburn/Clitheroe services are the best place to find 142s. Four were on there last Saturday. The 18:41 Man Vic to Clitheroe regularly has one on it on a Saturday.

It was bus seats aplenty in the Hope Valley this evening: 142061 worked the 16:49 and 19:49 from Piccadilly to Sheffield and 142011 the 17:49 and 20:49. Here's 061 in Sheffield platform 7 with the 21:14 back to Manchester.

no more allocations for them after 17/2/20 so maybe then?

Someone else posted that they had read that it was after the 14 February. I am going to travel on them as much as I can in the next couple of weeks.
I am then going to weigh up my options. I find a lot of the replacement rolling stock uncomfortable, with large platform gaps and difficulty boarding at certain stations. I have been on 156s with Chapman seats where there is no legroom. I have been on 150/1s with either Chapman seats or Ashbourne seats that have the same problem. The original facing BR outer suburban seating fitted to 150/1s was a lot better, but they were still claustrophobic. Also the noise from the Cummins NTA855Rs fitted to most class 15x units is very loud for even 1980s standards. I think that I will be using buses and trams more and driving when I go to Southport after the 142 demise.

Newport docks don’t seem to have a problem with “full” just tip the units on there side and done

3 car 144 on 1100 Bridlington to York this morning. Virtually empty as was following the 15 min late 1000 Scarboro to Sheff which picked up many of its passengers.

After getting its fill of New Mills, 055 should end up on the 16:49 to Sheffield. Nice.

Is this the only diagram that brings a 142 over to the east?
There are two four-car diagrams Mon - Fri down the Hope Valley in the evenings. One set works the 16:49 Man Picc - Sheffield, 18:14 SHF - MAN, 19:49 MAN - SHF and 21:14 SHF - MAN and the second set works the 17:49 MAN - SHF, 19:14 SHF - MAN, 20:49 MAN - SHF and 22:47 SHF - MAN.
Since the new year it's produced 142s quite reliaby but I'm getting them in while I can as it's got to be almost over now.
Starting from Sheffield and with trains on time it's possible to do the 18:14 to Bamford, then the 18:42 back, the 19:14 from SHF to New Mills Central then the 20:17 back to Sheffield: all 142s on a good day. A Derbyshire Wayfarer covers all this! I hope this helps, Kev.

i must be unlucky as i've done the 1949 out of piccadilly twice and both times it's been a double 150 :) (one last attempt on thursday coming home from a northern 10p bash to blackpool so hopfully a nodding donkey will turn up ;) )

Yep, only 142036 turned out last Thursday. I had it on the 19:14 from Sheffield to New Mills then your pair of 150s on the way back!
*I just re-read your post: good luck for this Thursday *

I'd bet there weren't enough passengers to fill one of the 4 carriages - unless Pacer enthusiasts are flocking from around the country to get a last ride on one in inter city revenue earning service:smile:

Roll up, roll up, make the most of the opportunity, last month to experience the unique nature of a long serving work horse. Consolation prize of a 150 if you leave it too long.

142055 and 150142 are out on the 16:49 Man Picc to Sheffield this evening. They should also form the 18:14 SHF - MAN, the 19:49 MAN - SHF and the 21:14 SHF - MAN.

142090 is on the 17:49 Man Picc to Sheffield. It should form the 19:14 SHF - MAN, 20:49 MAN - SHF and the 22:47 SHF - MAN. I like 090: always lovely and warm
