I don’t think any class 150s would be released if they did the hope valley as the runs they were on have been shortformed
The 1649 and 1749 Manchester Piccadilly to Sheffield have this week been actually 2 x150 together. What I mean is take those 2 150 units away. Put the 2x 142 combos and 150 on 1649 and 1749 Sheffield. Two 150 will become additional then like today 150 could do 0700 mcv to kirkby
And 0642 Wigan to Manchester Victoria also cancelled. Ie two trains no units with no unit to work so 150 could have worked those instead. And olr would have had two less cancellations. And units to use. Sadly all week they could have used 2 150 elsewhere in Manchester area . They only used x4 last week. Don't see or understand what is different this week. Monday the kirkbys where cancelled. Or even put them ie no cancelled trains. onto shortform alderley edge to southport. Ie 150

I so much we can turn back the clock. But the 1119 and 1319 to new Mills Central today is one 150. And that means the 1649 to Sheffield will be. Most likely. And we have 2 x142 idle at newton Heath T.M.D. again it's a shame and cannot stand beyond belief why this is so. Last week was no different. The 1649 will be rammed tonight. Personally olr northern should at least put a 142 on. Solve overcrowding and capacity and for both sides off Manchester. Also keeps us 142 followers happy to. By giving them a good send off.

I suppose that unlike the 144s, the remaining Northern 142s have to be coupled to a PRM unit and it restricts their activity.

It still should be possible though to use a 142. And release a 150 elsewhere. Because today it was a 150 that was short. So a 142 spare easily could be achieved. With prm unit.Unless politics have decided no more from 6 th March. Hope valley 142
which is the case. Might be. However maybe restricted on hope valley might well be. But all we can do is hope and pray.

Does anyone know the 142 diagrams for today? Hoping one is still on Wigan to Blackburn as this afternoon could very well be my last chance to get on one.

Just seen an unidentified 142 leading a 150 on 2L74, 0919 Blackburn - Wigan Wallgate, if that helps?

Yesterday the 14:23 Wigan Wallgate to Blackburn and 16:17 return was a 142. The set then does the 18:23 Wigan Wallgate to Blackburn. The 17:36 Man Vic to Southport is the other diagram. I believe it returns from Southport at 21:14.

Hopefully it’s the same today as I can jump on the 15:04 from Victoria to Todmorden on my way home. Does anyone know for sure if it’s running? Fingers crossed here!

Its changed the 142. Now detaches and spends the night at southport overnight stay. In place for the 0648 to southport

Monday this week saw a slightly different diagramm. However the 0648 southport to Blackburn. 0917 and 1617 and 2017 Blackburn to Wigan Wallgate and 1423 1823 Wigan Wallgate to Blackburn diagram. Which took effect Tuesday to Friday this week. Is also the same for next week on realtime trains . And stp ie short term planning diagrams have been issued for next week was informed by a staff member off this for next week. So next week the Wigan to Blackburn turn is going ahead.

Im on it too! A quick after work trip from Salford Cres to Blackburn :D

I got on at crescent too. I think there were a few people on the service just for the ride in a 142, could tell as when the train pulled in at Salford and victoria a few walked towards the 142. How things have changed, a few months ago everyone would’ve walked towards the rear 150 to avoid the 142!

Sadly they ended last week. There is just one peak diagram and one Wigan to Blackburn diagram throughout the day. Now.
Today is 142004 on 0533 mcv to kirkby
0636 kirkby to mcv
Should form 1736 mcv to southport.
142090 back on usual diagram ie
0648 southport to Blackburn
0917 1617 2017 Blackburn to Wigan
1423 1823 Wigan to Blackburn today
This was most helpful to me today allowing me to use 2 of these services for decent long runs, doubt I'll be back on a 142 on the main line again, so many thanks Warwickshire!

I got that at Victoria.

I was supposed to be going somewhere else but when I saw it arrive I thought this will be my last chance so jumped on.

Not been on one for a few years so it was nostalgic. :D

Amazed to get 142081 on 11.00 Swansea to Fishguard Harbour. Even more amazed to encounter 142002 on 10.55 Cardiff and 142073 on 11.05 Cardiff. Even better two Northern 142s on Landore Depot. Presume 142012 and 142079 or maybe 142086 but think that was left at Cardiff Canton.

The Northern 142s are for TFW to use for spare parts to keep their fleet going.

086 is at CF, 012 and 079 are at LE
Thanks for confirming those. Saw 142086 on Cardiff depot last night. There were plenty of Tfw 142s out around the evening peak. Those identified were 006/069/073/074/076/077/085 plus 4 unknown ones on the Valleys yesterday. 143s 604/605/622 were the only ones I saw working plus an assortment of 150s and 153s.
