142086 on 1J23 1620 Leeds to Southport.
I'd be surprised to see 052 out again, as when I last saw it a couple of weeks ago it sounded like it had some pretty severe flat spots as well as the engine in the non-toilet car labouring a fair bit.Apologies my post regarding 0725 Victoria - Southport this morning should have read 079 (not 052 as shown). Shouldn't type whilst travelling.
Yes, I've had this before too when a 142 was coupled to a 156 on the Middlesbrough line. I know this can only happen on a pacer when it is coupled to a sprinter with the announcements, Pacers cannot do this on their own. I've also heard that it only happens when the pacer is leading and the other train is on the back but I have no idea if this is true and can't really see why it would be.I was on a 142 earlier and it had the automated 'This is xxx the next stop is yyy' etc. announcements piping through! Is this because it was hooked up to a 158 as it is the first time I have ever heard such announcements playing through on a pacer!
Was on 142001 which was at the rear of 150138 going Wigan NW to Alderley Edge back on 17 May. The pacer was getting the station announcements from the forward 150 unit so it seems that as long as a prm'd unit is attached, the announcements will transfer.Yes, I've had this before too when a 142 was coupled to a 156 on the Middlesbrough line. Many thanks for this post , 035 is my last 142 for photograph . After reading your post I shot down to Meadowhall getting a return to Stalybridge via Sheffield and Manchester Piccadilly, currently sat in the bar at Stalybridge having a pint to celebrate , 035 up from Vic , many thanks again142035 was the 09.45 Stockport to Stalybridge then paired up with 150226 on the Man Vic shuttles. 142045+058 were the 10.30 Stalybridge to Wigan North Western. 142060 departed 11.40 from Man Picc to Alderley Edge. Rose Hill circuits are 150s.
I wondered why it was sat between Platforms 5 and 6 with Nottingham displayed in the blindThere was a class 1 142 working last night (Saturday 2 November 2019) when 142023 worked 1Y31 1903 Leeds - Nottingham as far as Sheffield platform 6 where it terminated and passengers transferred to 158795 on platform 7 to continue their journey to Nottingham. It was quite a surprise when we saw it coming into the platform at Meadowhall - it would have been even more of a surprise if it reached Nottingham!
The previous 1803 Leeds Nottingham left Leeds over 30 minutes late and ran as far as Sheffield where it was terminated and the 1803 and 1903 services were combined, getting us back to Ilkeston over 1 hour late.

142s run under class 1 headcodes most days on Leeds to Southport via Brighouse services. There was a class 1 142 working last night (Saturday 2 November 2019) when 142023 worked 1Y31 1903 Leeds - Nottingham as far as Sheffield platform 6 where it terminated and passengers transferred to 158795 on platform 7 to continue their journey to Nottingham.
