They have almost been fully withdrawn, you should have a read of the Northern pacer withdrawals thread. Down to just 4 diagrams after this weekend
I have been following it as best I can and it's a shame to see them go as much as I dislike them they done well to last so long.

I think I'll be riding Pacers for a few months yet also there's now a thread for tfw sightings lol

TFW are keeping most if not all Pacers until the end of the year. Northern plan to phase them out by the end of May. Its possible that after this weekend, they could be like finding Hens teeth around Greater Manchester.
They only have dispensation till July tho

For the record 142 035 with 156 428 was on the 16:49 Manchester to Sheffield, whilst the 17:49 was in the hands of 142 004 and 150 125. Does anyone know where 051 was lurking today ? From other peoples reports and my own sightings I can account for all except 051. Not reported previously was 142 078 which was on Newton Heath depot this morning but not in the line with the other 4. The depot was quite empty and no other 142's were visible although it could have been inside one of the depot buildings.

IMG_20200214_221917.jpg Double pacer with 142068 leading and I believe 142071 behind at Newcastle tonight. Passing though from York to Heaton depot having been on York - Scarborough driver training.

I suspect 142051 was on the Rosehill diagram. If you read further up, I spotted an unidentified 142 heading to Man Picc on the Guide bridge line, I was on the Hadfield 323 service going at some speed in the opposite direction hence the lack of detail.

Thanks for the reply but I am afraid that the set you saw at Guide Bridge at 08:53 was almost certainly not 142 051. Working backwards from my own sightings and using RTT I am certain that you saw 142 041 and 150 204. They would appear to have been working Rose Hill services only between the rush hours. The pattern seems to be an arrival on platform 2 followed by a Hadfield arrival and departure. I was on the 16:14 ex Rose Hill with 142 004 and we passed 142 041 at Hyde Central or thereabouts at 16:28ish. Working forwards from your sighting corresponds with this it would seem.

I agree with your observations. After I'd posted it struck me that could have been 004 but I was called away from my pc and forgot to edit my post.
142078 worked the 1736 to southport

142061 was this morning Friday the 14th on the 0643 Wigan to mcv. However a unit swap occurred at mcv at 0740 instead off usual booked working to kirkby. It went ecs to newton Heath and then 142045 which should have gone ecs to newton Heath did the kirkbys

Also Friday night the usual 1637 to rose hill which includes the 142 which stays at stockport over the weekend was only worked by 150146. A short form. Only to fail at Manchester Piccadilly at 1810. More interesting on realtime trains at Manchester Victoria all next week is a stp movement 5T67 at 2251 ecs to newton Heath T.M.D. . Which corresponds with a possible unit detachment off the 2w67 stalybridge to Wigan service which resides at Manchester Victoria ie 2246 to 2251. However due to this could this be a possibility that a 142 diagramm off the remaining one off the four could actually remain the kirkby. And not a rose Hill one. Because all off its workings during the day iff you back track on realtime trains corresponds with the kirkbys. Interesting... and finally for next week it's a case off wait and see to what actually happens. And what gets moved to heaton T&R.S.M.D this weekend.

142078 is with 150112 on the 1117 Blackburn to Rochdale, and seems to be the only Pacer out at present. Should work as follows for the rest of the day:
1242 RCH-BBN 1405
1417 BBN-RCH 1529
1542 RCH-CLH 1732
1753 CLH-RCH 1929
1942 RCH-BBN 2105
Hope this is useful to anyone who is out today.

Victoria to stalybridge was one that wasn’t supposed to happen!
There allocations are:
Rochdale to clitheroe
Manchester Victoria to Kirkby
Manchester piccadilly to new mills central
Manchester Piccadilly to rose hill marple
Manchester Piccadilly to Sheffield (peak only)

Thanks for the list.

I didn't bother in the end due to the storm. How many Class 142's do Northern still have and how many diagrams are in operation? I saw on Twitter that they are to stay until May now, I believe this was from a Northern guard. Is this correct? It'll be nice to get over soon, but I doubt I'll see any Pacers at this rate. I guess Manchester Victoria will be good for TPE's new trains at least :D

I believe there are still four sets at Newton Heath to cover 'peak stregthening' until May. I believe the sets are 142055, 142058, 142078 and 142090. Not sure about diagrams though!

Its seems 004, 045, 051, 055, 058, 078 and 090 are the 6 lucky ones carrying on till the end on the Atherton line diagrams

Observed on Wednesday was 142045 on Rochdale line diagrams, and 142061, 142041, 142035, and 142055 on Romiley line diagrams with 041 and 061 on the PM peak Sheffields. Sadly as I am lead to believe, as of this Friday just been these units no longer visit Romiley and the Hope Valley. EDIT: also note the PIS in the last photo......

Wensleydale Railway, next Sunday 23rd, for possibly the first Pacer workings on a Heritage railway, for a picture at Leyburn see; https://wensleydale-railway.co.uk/future-events/

23 February 2020

Pacer Day

Wensleydale Railway are delighted to host their first ever class 142 Pacer workings (and dare we say possibly the first passenger working of a preserved Pacer….)

142028 and 142060 are being lined up to work the yellow timetable on Sunday 23rd February in multiple. Trains will depart Leeming Bar at 10:30 and 14:30.

Standard day rover price of £17.80 for adults, £16 for Snrs and £9 for children with no discounts available for this day.

We are hoping to pop a cask of real ale on the train too!

Following the event, 142028 will be withdrawn from service for the foreseeable future for overhaul and repaint.

Enjoy them while you can.

‘We are hoping to put a cask of real ale on the train too’. Won’t the sediment get shaken up - especially on a 142? :)
