Thanks. I know exactly what you're describing, but didn't know it by name.

It sort of surprises me the cab doors are a little more old fashioned, rather than the Bombardier approach of swinging out.
Maybe that's just it... all the recent units have had that sort of door so anything that opens inwards is a little strange.

Voyagers have classic manual crew doors.

Probably depends on whether the unit has a Gangway or not. Not much space for an Swing Door, that opens into the cab on modern gangway'd units.

Amazed to see so many of the new northern units at Wavertree and Allerton, but still not managed to get one in service. Whats the hold up and when can we expect to see passengers on any of the new sets

I take it you’ve not seen the countless thread posts mentioning the problems with the bar couplers? That’s why there’s loads of them sat around.

So have the bar couplers been fixed then? Suddenly seems to be plenty of units flying around.

Well by power of deduction, they must have found a fix. Were the 397's effected?

No, I mean the 397's. They were ordered by a different operator so may have been built to a different mechanical spec.

However the 397s were barred from testing due to the bar coupler issue...

Could this more contoured seat cushion be retrofitted to a 700 or are the backs themselves different

Same back cushion on both versions so a retrofit would be possible.

Ah great 700s really aren't bad trains with just a few simple fixes required

Noted at Blackpool North today were 195113 195107 and I think 195112.

Saw a driving vehicle on a lorry heading north up the M5 near Junction 14 around 10.30 yesterday. Didn't see number so could've been a 195 or 331 vehicle.

Did it have a lot of underfloor gubbins or very little?

The electrification sticker on the destination display looks rubbish. Couldn't it have gone on the yellow bit?

    170s don't have gangways :p
    Neither do the Networker family!
    185s, 360s...

I guess it's just manufacturer preference as well as gangway.

    Can I also add
    321s
    322s
    323s
    332s
& 333s to that list. They don't have end gangways but still have sliding cab doors. (The latter two also made by CAF who are also building these units)

I'm not sure, but I know it's quite a step down from the drivers cab onto the platform, more than from the saloons
