Just seen the 331 pass my house in either direction on the Bradford launch train. 5Z98 from Skipton was about 20 late due to the earlier failure of a 321 and 1Z98 to Skipton about 5 mins down. It was a 4 car unit. Will look out for 1Z99 when it returns in a bit.

Had a walk down to Shipley to see 331 110 running the 1G99 (1Z99 was cancelled) passing through at 12:38, 2 minutes early.

Here's a link to my video of 331 110 gingerly negotiating the curve on Platform 5:

I thought of all the places this would happen, Skipton would be the least likely to suffer from graffiti. Perhaps the security of the site isn't as good as others stations or depots. Don't think I have ever seen a "tagged" 333
Plenty of units been tagged at Skipton down the years. A 308 was completely covered down one side one Christmas and needed a complete repaint!

If it stops Northern or CAF getting a hefty delay for holding up an XC or VT service on said route I can think they would actively look at it.
I would have thought any situation resulting in a hefty delay involved a unit travelling at 0 mph, at which point the ability to travel up to 110 mph really doesn't help much. And please trust me when I say that the engineering / testing work required to increase a unit's linespeed from 100 mph to 110 mph will not be either quick or cheap. Additional standards requirements start to kick in when you pass 100 mph (aerodynamics, bridge resonance) - the aerodynamics test in particular needs a specific type of test infrastructure and is quite difficult to arrange logistically.

Well if it can make it through P5 at Shipley, the rest of the lines will pose few problems! :D

Cheers for the video, I'm looking forward to seeing them starting regular workings on the Triangle lines, well perhaps apart from morning peaks when the laptop users realise there are tables and power sockets, there will be a stampede for the prime seats.... ;)

What units are running on the Doncaster-Leeds diagrams this week, as im heading there on Friday would like to have a guess whether a 321 or 331 is there.

015 is the latest arrival at Edge Hill. As an aside. 103 is still there as well for some reason.

331 109 is out on one of the Doncaster diagrams, it must've hit a bird because there's blood and a few feathers on the front!

333001 was tagged not too long back (around April or May) but I have seen tagged 333s before

Rural(ish) and supposedly posh places often have issues with vandalism and anti-social behaviour... have you never seen BBC's "This Country"? ;)

I'd be very surprised if Carnforth to Barrow was electrified within the lifetime of 331s.
I'd be equally surprised if we ever get a cancellation-free week on the Furness Line within the lifetime of the 331s.

(And Northern are reportedly surprised that the passenger figures on the airport route haven't recovered with the introduction of Class 195s...)

Not a week, but the Furness line seems to have just managed a day without cancellations, which is quite good, by recent standards. First train from Preston c.15L throughout, that appears to be the worst which has happened.

Does anyone know whether 331's appeared on the Blackpool - Liverpool service today? There was at least one 156 operating on Saturday so new train's can't come soon enough!

All other diagrams formed of 319s.

2F68 0546 LIV - WGN 0632
2C02 0652 WGN - LIV 0739

2C06 0847 WGN - LIV 0919
1N83 0936 LIV - BPN 1053
1F03 1103 BPN - LIV 1219
1N86 1237 LIV - BPN 1354
1F09 1403 BPN - LIV 1519
1N89 1537 LIV - BPN 1653
1F02 1703 BPN - LIV 1824
1N82 1835 LIV - BPN 1955
1F08 2003 BPN - LIV 2119
1N86 2215 LIV - BPN 2347

This is, of course, subject to change.

331 109 just had a bit of a SDO failure at Shipley. All out the back door.

Edit to add a few more thoughts:
Is it the air con that makes that strange noise every so often or something by the pantograph?

Even seated I felt quite a bit of side to side movement while traversing points and on curves it seemed to lean out quite a bit.

Standing down the aisles is better, but by the doors there are quite big areas without grab rails due to the tip up seats. I've seen a few people fall on the 333 which have a smaller standing area by the doors, probably going to be more frequent now especially as people next to you might not be able to catch you as they might not be holding on.

Bike and wheelchair spaces are not obvious. a bit of confusion on the platform today because of it.

Unfortunately it'll be years until they recover such was the monumental mess-up with the timetable last year. Likewise commuter stations south of Manchester on the Airport Line.

Makes me wonder why (graffiti) can't be done at Neville Hill
It's most likely that with new trains arriving and non leaving Neville hill, Skipton, Holbeck and most other Northern depots are very full. The situation should ease assuming the scrap yards dont become full too.

If thats the case then wouldn't it be better to transfer two different 331s to Skipton in trade for the two tagged ones
