Northern Information Poster question

A very niche question for you.

On my daily government mandated walk, I managed to get as far as Upholland station where whilst sat down, was looking at the information posters.

On one section said 'Nearest Staffed Stations' and listed St Helens Central, Thatto Heath and Liverpool Central. Now I'm fairly sure Wigan Wallgate, Wigan North Western and Garswood would be the three you would write in.

How come this section is clearly incorrect? (It is a recent poster by the way as either side is all Coronavirus advice)

Probably. I'm still amazed at seeing Liverpool Central on it. Utterly baffling when a train for Upholland terminates at Kirkby!

It doesn't make any sense.

St Helens central and thatto heath are subsequent stations.

And you've got to go a long way, past several manned stations and change trains to get to Liverpool central.

What if you were not travelling on the railway and just wanted a staffed station you could walk or drive to. Not everyone wants to buy a ticket and may want to make a face to face enquiry instead of using the phone or a website. There are still people more comfortable speaking with a real person.

I'm not sure what this adds to the fact that the 2 of the stations are next to each other in distance, and ones in a city centre miles away and beyond numerous manned stations.

I think it's an impossible question as you have Kirkby nearby. I think this idea for the Quiz forum is too close to the long running Station Association thread and Railway General Knowledge to be it's own quiz.
