Is there a chance that Class 142s might, quite bizarrely, become the most-preserved class in history at this rate?

Surely class 108 or 117 hold that record?

Pardon my ignorance, but are things that bad around Hull that they are going to transfer pacers in and train drivers and presumably guards on them, given that they don't have much longer to go anyway?.

For units I’d say thusfar class 205 would have been in with a shout, but it seems Pacers are going to beat them by some margin. Of course it remains to be seen how many remain operational with the test of time, the class 141s didn’t fare so well in that respect, and nor did the 205s come to that.

Of course history shows that with units anything above zero is something, especially electrics.

It seems to be about training new drivers-possibly for planned York to Scarboro services. We have been far better off round here ob Hull to Scarboro in recent times BUT lots of cancellations on Tues and Wed this week. My fear is that driver training might abstract current drivers to help and we cd be in for alot more disruption.

Ah, i see now, thanks for that, i wonder if that will make them semi-departmental units.

There is a Pacer behind Stockport station. Is it out of use or just there for the weekend?

Hi Peter, thanks for bringing me up to speed on this topic.I've been out of the loop as it were for a while and now playing catch up.also I can understand your concern as the last thing you need is more disruption on top of the Northern debacle so far.

Seems to have gone quiet. Perhaps the scrap yards are full.

Only an idiot would send working trains for scrap when they are already short.

Who were under pressure from people in higher places, whose knowledge of how to run a railway could perhaps be questioned. However that's not the subject of this thread, so I'll shut up now!

It seems strange to repair 142041 if the 142s are indeed only staying in service till mid February, especially as there are warm stored units at Heaton, that could be put back into service.

142051 has apparently had an A exam on Newton Heath meaning it's likely to be one of the last in service.
