Newcastle drivers start learning 144s today.
Why? Not expecting them in the NE surely?
Newcastle drivers start learning 144s today.
As from December they will be allocated to Heaton. This will be for maintenance purposes only. But they will need to be taken from Newcastle Central to the depot. York drivers don't sign that route.
Anyone got any knowledge on the latest in terms of withdrawals? It would seem 142009/52 has been put into storage yet 142022/46 seems to be back into service again so like for like swop? Also a photo on the pacer trains group has 142032 on a NE diagram today so could that unit be the next one to go into storage/withdrawn? It would seem going by Simons post 142066 has been withdrawn so effectively only 2 pacers has been fully withdrawn so far.
I thought yesterday marked the day when a good amount of pacers will be withdrawn yet that does not seem to be the case?
Presumably for Heaton to withdraw its Pacers something else will have to move there.
I've not noticed any 150, 156 or 158s heading there since all Notherns Perkins engined 158s and I dont believe any 195s are for Heaton.
Anyone have any info.

Recent moves to Heaton (HT) of Newton Heath (NH) or Neville Hill (NL) Pacers (to the best of my knowledge):
17/10/2019 5A60 1921 York-HT was 142009+142052 (these were used in the North East on 18/10/2019 but haven't worked since). 142091 was also on 5A60 but that's a Heaton unit anyway.
20/10/2019 5G92 1945 NL-HT was Newton Heath unit 142037 and Heaton units 142092+142093.
20/10/2019 5A12 2117 NL-HT was Newton Heath unit 142038 and Neville Hill units 144005+144016. 142038 is in use on the Durham coast today.
21/10/2019 5A60 1921 York-HT was Newton Heath unit 142032 and Heaton unit 142030. 142032 is on Bishop Auckland - Saltburn services today.
22/10/2019 5A60 1921 York-HT tonight should be Heaton unit 142013 and Newton Heath unit 142039.
The Newton Heath 142s therefore seem to be slowly gravitating to Heaton.
Certainly one of the Saltburn runs has become a 158 diagram from a 142 last week, suggesting the transfer of more 158s onto diagrams in the North EastI have seen something about Heaton being allocated additional 158s, but no idea which ones I'm afraid.
There won't be any 150s though, I don't think they're cleared to operate in the North East.
What board is 142038 on the DCL?
What board is 142038 on the DCL?
142013, 142039, 142090, 142091 and 158850. Plus 158790 on the 2240 Darlington - Middlesbrough.Anyone know which 142s are on saltburn diagrams? Is there a certain board the 158s works on the saltburn line?
(28/3/19, page 22, post 655 - referencing article linked in post 651)A 150 leading a 156. Should we tell them?
EDIT: I missed the Merseyrail PEP

Yeah, for some reason there seems to be a desperate race to remove Heaton's comparatively comfortable individual seated units from service, so that they can be replaced in the North East by 1980s bus seated examples displaced from Newton Heath. I'm sure there's sound reasoning to this based on times until heavy exams, but from a passenger's perspective it seems quite mental.Bad news for passengers backs then.
