The one nearest Manchester is 41, don't know about tthe others, 41 is the one that went to Alllerton, so maybe these are the ones that are staying? If anybody else can assist I would like the numbers too so I can caption my pics accurately.

However due to information received it looks like the other previous romiley information about 142 on that line to Friday march the 6th will sadly no longer take place.
they are better off on the longer peak services, they have more need there than on less busy routes

Will there be 6 left at newton Heath after Monday or does the worksop move it down to four does anyone know any more. If it is 6 then is there any more peak hour diagrams elsewhere. Or not. Pity 142041 is in in the four because that's just come back from repair. Makes you wonder as a possibility that had northern remained. Then maybe the recent workings might have remained. But we will never know for sure.

So I assume that’s it for the Romiley lines workings now ?

Yes subject any manjor changes to the plans the final 142 departed Piccadilly last night after 33 years of pottering about there. The only place exprected to see 142s in the NW now is Vic and the Atherton line services.

They have now reached there destination 20 minutes early.
That’s nothing - on arrival at Carlisle at 1144, they were 44 minutes early, having covered the 90 miles from Preston in 77 minutes - average speed 70mph. In comparison, even the fastest Pendolino takes 62mins, and generally 66 or 67.

There were two 142s and a 3-car 144, with Sheffield on the destination blind, in York at the same time on Wednesday afternoon this week. One 142, I think it could have been 071 but too far away to be sure, left from platform 1 and tootled off in the Scarboro' direction.
the 142s were doing training runs

Just found this on you tube. Now considering that 142005 was the first casualty . I understand it sat at Newton heath and was in a stage of cannibalisation also one engine missing. Did Northern use old footage or Doctored a unit number as 005 would not be able to run under its own power for sure.

142046 was on the back of 142005 in the video. 142046 was put in warm storage at the time at Heaton, but kept reappearing back in service until it was sent for scrap.

I observed 1 if not 2 142s out on Romiley line services yesterday, Monday, both paired with 150s. Didn't catch the numbers, sorry.

Looking closely at the video, the other end of 142005 wasn't turquoise.
Interestingly 142 035 and 142 036 had a turquoise roof and front end panel at one end and grey at the other at the other. I must admit I hadn't noticed that there is some considerable variation in roof / front panel of the Northern pacers fleet beyond the obvious relating to the ex Merseyrail fleet.

Sorry I need to correct myself I meant front panel not full roof although according to my photo collection it would seem that 142 058 has one car with a full blue roof and the other all grey. I wonder how this came about. Just for interest both cars of 45 are light blue instead of grey.
