Looks like the pioneer 144 is sadly doomed. It would appear that 144001 has been acquired by Nottinghamshire Fire & Rescue Service for training purposes so no doubt that it’ll be getting wrecked!

Proposed routes for the Pacers, starting in July.

Rose Hill and New Mills out of Piccadilly along with a Victoria to Blackburn and a Kirkby circuit.

Also the 1649 and 1949 from Piccadilly to Sheffield, might drop Pacers.

You don't know which Kirkby circuit by any chance do you? Just so I can make a note of it for when I'm committing again.

Regarding tomorrows 3Z01.
There’s only two coming down now apparently now on 3Z01 Heaton Depot - Newton Heath... I don’t know if anymore will be brought down at a later date.

I guess some will just be kept for spare, guess they'll try to prioritise more comfortable fleet if possible for service ?

The Pacers are back!

With Mr Jackson behind the controls and the wonderful Manchester Skyline in the background, 142087 leads 142068, 142065 and 142071 on the late running 3Z01 Heaton TMD - Newton Heath TMD, seen powering past the lens at Miles Platting.

Is there any indication whether the four 142s remaining at Gasgoigne Wood (142043/045/047/061) have been sold or are for scrap? I haven't included 142036/055 as they've already got homes identified.

If no new homes are found for them then their next destination will probably be the scrapyards.

Also while I’m at it, what’s the story with the 142s down at Eastleigh Works? I understand that a couple of them were earmarked for preservation when they went down there

Initial thoughts re lack of space at SP have proved correct, there were 3 769's, a 319 and a 3 car 158 on there yesterday afternoon, so the only 142 on those sidings is 142071.
The other 3 142068/5/87 were located on the headshunt formed of the old Bickershaw line formation at the extreme s end of the depot. They are only visible from Taylor's Lane overbridge at the s end not even visible from the WCML.

142004 and 142090 are in warm storage now at Blackburn King Street Depot no doubt they will come out to play in due course

I can't see Alderley Edge to Southport loaded in after the 6th of July, which would require a Pacer or two. Is that why so few have returned to Newton Heath?
