Northern Platform Extensions

Forgive me if this is covered elsewhere (couldn't see a recent thread), but I've noticed what looks to be platform extension work happening at Belle Vue, Ryder Brow and Brinnington. What's it in aid of? Extension to accommodate 2 x 15Xs in anticipation of 142s departing?

As part of the Great North Rail Project, we’re extending over 100 platforms at more than 70 stations in the north of England.

Throughout 2018 and 2019, Network Rail in partnership with TransPennine Express and Northern Rail are extending platforms across the north to make way for longer trains with more seats.
