I'm beginning to agree that they are for Northern in view of the latest info from GWR sources although the first story was that they were for Scotrail. However, the move is not expected to take place until Monday at the earliest so that looks like their showing will be at the last minute in RTT. The 153 move is now said on WNXX to be for Heaton dropping 2 off at Leeds and the other continuing on. The fact that Heaton has been mentioned now convinces me that they ARE for Northern after and that EMT was "fake news".

You're misreading the gen on there. It's a thread I've been following closely. The first Angel 5 are for Northern and always have been. ScotRail have a finger in the pie later either with those after Northern or the Porterbrook 5 much later - no one is sure which yet. The last Angel 4 are generally reported as arriving at EMT in July (or at least that's what they've been telling their staff and even their passengers on Twitter).

People may have inferred that Neville Hill means EMT but no one who knows anything about what's occurring has ever suggested that link.

I have read they'll be with Northern for a few months before potentially heading to Scotrail to make 3-car 156 hybrids. How true that is i have no idea

Northern would certainly benefit from a temporary increase in capacity! There has been a lot of short forming recently and 3 extra 153s would reduce the loss in capacity.

All you'd need then would be a few drivers.

Yes, final clearance checks.

Given that there won't be enough 170s to fully convert the Harrogate line are they just set to work the Leeds-Harrogate-York services with the Knaresborough's still in the hands of sprinters? Although a welcome improvement it will still represent a decrease in peak time capacity if so

Heaton have had 153s in the past, so possibly some drivers already sign them.

They probably won't be working out of Heaton.

Replace this with DEFINATELY wont be working out of Heaton, Its just for a C4 exam.

Newcastle and the North East hasn't seen 153s based their in at least 10 years (probably over 15 years). The only time ones been in passenger service at Newcastle has been with Carlisle crew and that's once a year if that

Anyone know when the next 158s and 170s are due to move from Scotrail to Northern? And the 156s for that matter. Is their release linked to the next phase of electrification in Scotland?

Any updates on the transfer of the 170s and 158s from Scotrail, as mentioned in my previous post?

There are also a couple of 153s in South Yorkshire PTE derivatives of the Northern Rail livery

Plus the 322s are still in First Scotrail blue. They got debranded, temporarily had Northern stickers on. Now plain again.

The 321/9 have been painted to match, so they are in FSR unbranded blue despite never running for FSR!
