this is a thread to keep track of stations and trains being rebranded with northern trains branding. so far 150128 and 129 have been unbranded, but there are probably more.

Is the branding not remaining the same, just the “by Arriva” lettering being removed?

ok just found out 150127 and 128 are both ex FGW units just been reliveried, but this still suggests to me that northern trains will have a new logo.

Shame someone didn’t think to amend “by Arriva” to “bye Arriva”

Would love to see that! Have had very few good experiences with any of that company's services bar Chiltern, so an industry wide "bye arriva" would be most welcome from me

They will not be getting a new logo - as correctly stated above the 'by arriva' is being removed.

The N logo belongs to Arriva and they have given the OLR 12 months grace to get it removed from all the trains. This came up in one of the roadshow meetings about the transfer details.

As far as uniform goes they are looking to get us new jackets and coats as a matter or urgency, the rest of our uniform has no logos anyway.

Good. The logo is terrible.

...though Northern roadshow meetings haven't always seen results. Exhibit A being the "Seat Survey" charade!

To be honest I don't mind the Northern branding. Clean white and blue colour scheme and simple logo. Surprised OLR haven't agreed license to to retain the branding - it's not worthwhile changing liveries in 12 months (again) which incurs cost and time out of service.

Great to hear awful uniforms are being reviewed. Hopefully the unprofessional and cheap looking polo shirts will be replaced with a buttoned shirt and waistcoat option. Just as with any company a cheap looking uniform normally results in a lacklustre service.

So you think a sensible thing to do is to waste taxpayers' money on waistcoats??

This was for staff at depots to ask questions. The seat roadshow was a publicity stunt.

The uniform is just a change for items with ‘by Arriva’ on them (the soft shell jacket and overcoat). It will probably be exactly the same without ‘by Arriva’ on it. The rest of the uniform stays the same.

From what I understand the train livery will remain the same. If the logo changes then it’s a change of stickers, that’s it.

Didn't I read recently that the coats would be different, more of a generic darker blue design? A lot of staff don't like the ARN coats.

Why a new name? Wasn't the whole point that "Northern" was generic? Or is it so toxic that it has to go?
I would say so yes. Although what arriva did with the brand was alot nicer than abellio serco northern brand. It belongs to them and is not a transferrable brand that the DfT can use.

my guess is that they will re name it to have different wording but keep the name ‘north’ or ‘northern’ somewhere in the new name??

If that's the case, then it makes an utter mockery of the whole neutral name and brand policy.

So all trains again have to go through re livery and new seat covers etc. So we are back to square one where fleet refurbishment or upgrades concerned now as 3/4 of the fleet already half refurbed or full refurbed has to go through it again. What a mess this railway is in

A bit of an overreaction there. @Gallagher 96 might well be telling the truth from a reputable source, but with all due respect they're a new account and haven't provided a source for their claim. Let's all calm down and wait for an official statement.

In other news, I noted that the two Huddersfield trainer 195s hadn't yet been de-Arriva-ed as of yesterday.

Not quite correct. A revised logo has been circulated internally amongst staff and will begin to appear soon.

The 'n' logo has been changed to be a slightly lighter and gradiented colour and the company name has been made 'allcaps'

What’s the point of rebranding in such a minor way?

All the cost of rebranding with none of the benefit of anyone actually realising

Also why would you keep the lower case n as the logo, but then make the name to be in capitals?

A post on the now closed northern franchise thread mentioned that the n would become black with a light blue circle??
