There is little to beat the mighty Grammer IC3000 as found in the good quality Class 158 refurbs i.e. ScotRail Inverness sets, EMT, ATW.

The ones on Arriva have squidgy/softer headrests too. Lovely!

I love Grammer seating but I prefer the EMT version with the full headrests and the ATW ones should have more airline seating, to accomodate more customers.

319 371 is in the new livery with full decals, leaving just 380/386 in Northern Electrics livery - unless those have also gone to Wolverton by now.

319361-369/377 all still white without Nothern/Arriva lettering, etc?

Yes, re: 361-369/377.

319384 in full livery too and has been out and about and refurbed inside except with FCC seat covers.

So there is only one set that's completely refurbished then? Is a PRM mod only the first stage of the interior refurbishment?

Just 150206 in full Northern livery is the only addition to an otherwise excellent listing.

PRM mods are funded by the leasing company, other modifications have to be funded by the operator. Both are supposed to be completed by the end of 2019 but there's a legal requirement to get all the PRM mods done by then, other mods are a franchise requirement which could be changed if, for example, cascaded units are late arriving - which they already are.

I'm not convinced there's any 'fully refurbished' trains. The refurbishment is supposed to include internal lighting replaced with more energy efficient LED lighting and I don't think that's been done to any units yet.

Northern started re-padding seats and replacing seat covers but apparently it's been decided the 158s and 156s are getting new seats (not sure about the 155s), while the ex-ATN and ex-LM 150s are supposed to now be getting upcycled seats replacing the existing ones. Some of the ex-LM 150s are also supposed to be reformed in to 3 car sets and it's been suggested Angel Trains have proposed removing the redundant cabs.

The 333s are supposed to have the seating density reduced in the driving cars. Both the 319s and 333s are supposed to be getting a pantograph camera and a monitor in the cabs.

So is even the 158752 still just classed as PRM modded than totally refurbished? I know it says as such here. The PRM modded trains at least are a step up from before, though maybe not 'as new'!

I think that it was supposed to be the 'like new' refresh as the franchise agreement specified recovered seats. However, Northern management weren't happy with the results, hence why new seats are being introduced.

I certainly wouldn't be with the ex-RRNE 156s, the seats in those (I forget the manufacturer) are falling to bits.

The Chapman seats in the ex-RRNW ones are more or less OK, on the other hand, and aren't a bad seat (though look a bit dated).

The retention of the old windows prevent it looking like a 'like new' interior.

Has any UK refurb ever replaced the window units? I don't think it has. I like that seat cover pattern though. (Notably they are the ex-RRNW Chapman seats, not new ones). They could however have done with cleaning the obviously visible greasy muck off, though. (At least unlike the Southern 442 refurb they have at least bothered cleaning the ceiling panels).

Mind you, SBB and DB both do replace window units at some refurbs, and it's partly that that had me fooled that the 1990s Silberling -> Buntling refurb was actually new-build. The SBB "fresh air UIC coaches" also have brand-new full-drop window units, again helping them to look new (were it not for the slamdoors, though these have been fitted with opening motors so are no longer manual).

Thanks for the picture! It looks like one of the nicest things going around the Northern network in ages.
I'd much rather have a unit with old 2+2 seating than a unit with new 3+2 seating. However I have to agree that it looks smart and ought to impress the passengers.
