Hi all-
Strange question- Is there a set pattern for the ex resturant mk3 coaches to be on certain services, or is it really 'up in the air' and pot luck as to what turns up?

Must have been a pain in the neck trying to keep the RFMs (or is it RFB?) on the right diagrams to make sure they were in place for the breakfast services when they were running. I don't suppose GA are thinking about reintroducing those are they?

Most definatley not. Yes i well remember the pain in trying to get RFMs on restaurant trains every night & then the constant set swaps should anything go wrong during the day to get them back on their correct diagrams to keep the chosen few happy on the 19.30 down. Life would have been so much easier with one in every set allowing a common fleet.

Ahh well, bit of a shame but on a route of that length probably not worth it.

Well quite. FGW have similar difficulties in that they have to try and make sure that the RFB equipped sets end up at Paddington at the right time to run their Pullman dining service on an evening. Is there any reason why the GA fleet don't have enough RFMs to have every one in every set?

Not too hard for FGW, they have 16 sets for two restaurant services each evening from London. They also have requirements for Travelling Chef services where not all sets are suitable.
