I'm travelling from Carlisle to Leicester on Friday, returning on Monday.
I'll be using complimentary Northern only tickets to travel between Carlisle and Nottingham.
So I just need a ticket for the Nottingham to Leicester part of the journey.
I was surprised to see that a Nottingham to Leicester off peak return is £18.10, which seems a lot for such a short journey.
Does anyone know of any way to get this fare down? I can't see any obvious splits, and I can't see anything cheaper by using my Northern ticket to somewhere like Stoke or Lincoln instead. I haven't found any advance fares at suitable times.
It's £3.60 each way between Nottingham and Leicester on National Express, so I may end up on the coach instead.
