Over the last year I've been resurrecting/rebuilding a 30 year old layout. It's been moved from my mum's loft to my garage. Thought at this point I'd share a few photos. Still very much a work in progress. The lift out viaduct I'm pleased with, but can anyone recommend a pmug/socket system for the wiring that will withstand repeated use?

That’s great to see. I love all the town stuff, it looks like you put loads of work into it back then. :)
It’s a bit of a snapshot of what was available to buy and was happening on the railways 30 years ago in a way.
Have you got any future plans of what else you’d like to do to it?

There is a rolling replacement programme for a much of the 1980s slightly plasticy stuff. The remote half the other side of the viaduct by the second station will get a lot of landscaping. I'm also open to ideas :)

Right I’m going to have a think about it over the next couple of days. ;)

That looks like a lovely layout. I'd read your post this morning I think, but hadn't quite clocked the age of the layout. The single-track line going around is really evocative of a sort-of branchline or maybe a lesser-used main/diversionary route.
The station by the viaduct looks to have a lot of modelling potential. Looking at the photo, I assume there's going to be one terminating platform and one through? That could be an interesting design (even if the 'through' platform ends in a fake tunnel).

The through line will indeed be in to a fake tunnel. I can't go any further, the lawnmower is in the way! I'm considering some sort if lake next to the station. My sister in law is a rather talented mural artist, and will be painting some backdrops straight on to the wall behind.

Your sister in law sounds great. It’s going to be interesting seeing what she comes up with.

Ah cool - I like the sound of that. You could always extend the layout further and end up with a garden network... ;)
