A playlist of the sacred choral works of Charles Villiers Stanford. His requiem is an amazing work and one I once had the privilege to sing in a performance of in the QEH

A great work by an underated composer. His requiem can stand beside the magnificent requiems of Verdi and Berlioz.

@52290 completely agree about the Stanford, Ive sung in the Verdi too but not the Berlioz. My music tastes cover pretty much everything from Hildegard von Bingen up to completely contemporary pop. I was fortunate to have an inspirational music teacher and a family who believed in the value, and power, of music.

This is this afternoon’s listening…

Only just noticed this - top choice. That entire album is a work of synth art.
Agreed. "Some Distant Memory" and its oboe close is just brilliant.

Electronic were a very under-rated "supergroup" featuring as they did key members of New Order (Bernard Sumner) and The Smiths (Johnny Marr) with substantial contributions at various times from the Pet Shop Boys and Karl Bartos (Kraftwerk).

Wet Leg - Chaise Longue

Plus, anything by Mattiel

Let's not forget Ian Hunter - magnificent songwriter.

I heard this line, over and over and over again, in a song that was playing in a store and it sounds like a question asked in a Chinese chip shop.....

"What you weigh, Ding Four?"

Does anyone recognise what song this is?
Sounds like What You Waiting For? by Gwen Stafani, although if it isn't I'm going to have "Ding Four" in my head if I ever have the misfortune to hear it again :)

I've got Stuart Maconie and Mark Radcliffe on Radio 6 on at the moment, will be listening Maconies' Freak Zone rather than watching the match tonight too  (I'm not that interested in football, haven't bothered with the Euro 2020 so far, and don't want to jinx it by taking an interest now ... )
