Been contacted by a friend who is applying for a signal persons position.

He is a bit confused about the 20 or so question asking about experience?

My interpretation is they're like competencies so explain a time you have do x,y or z

However he is reading them as simply outline what experience you have?

I don't want to point him in the wrong direction so wondered if anyone has applied recently and can shed light

I applied a while ago. There are the scenario questions which are coaxing out whether you have experience in some of the non-technical skills, and then there is the the section which asks about directly related rail/signal experience . I had none so said that!

From what I gather the mix of 20 or so questions are exactly that.

I've not seen the application so going on the assumption that like toc applications they want experience explained like competencies. But he says that it's just experience so simply something like, as a police officer I've dealt with many high pressure situations

Hi all. There are around 50 questions to answer and they surround any previous signalling knowledge to situations where you can evidence communication, team work, dealing with difficult situations and leading a team. I guess they will be looking for some indication you hold the basic skills necessary to be considered. Not having previous signalling experience doesn't matter and won't necessarily mean you're rejected.
