The wayback machine is a website which lets you look at old web pages it had archived going back to the mid 90s

alot has changed this then both on the railwayd and the internet and i think it could be intrestingn to post snippets of the things you have found rifiling through this important resource of railway history.

First is a press release from ScotRail on the success of its new website.

I think looking at the old forum back to its founding in 2005 is quite interesting.

Mostly Glasgow-ish. Mostly.
The nascent TOCs and Railtrack are mostly there but nothing much to speak of from the early privatisation transitional period. Once decent exception is britrail.com's first nervous ventures into hypertext in the mid 90s.

scot-rail.co.uk (enthusiast site, not TOC) has email archives between members back to 1998.

A rather bold claim by SPT here ( The unit was denamed when it was repainted into Transport Scotland saltire livery)D78953EF-D36A-4FA9-811E-B573444526DD.jpeg

Looking back at the phrases used it seems a world away. Little did anyone at the time understand how the web would change things.

If you don’t mind, can you add the dates for these web pages and press releases? Without those it’s hard to put them in context.

The first one was from 1996 and the second from 2004 IIRC.
