The 17.20 EUS-BHM AND 17.28 EUS-GLC were trapped. Two Voyagers were terminated at Rugby, with one or both sent to collect passengers off the Birmingham - watching on the maps it would appear the rescue train went back bang road to cross over at Blisworth and the evacuated train overtook it!
Also on the map was a 1Z99 following the Glasgow train as far as Rugby which I initially assumed to be the second Voyager from Rugby, but now tend to suspect it was a 57.
The Glasgow eventually terminated at Preston 179L, presumably with buses/taxi.s forward.

Can anyone add or correct anything.

Subsequent services were diverted via Northampton, causing on-going delays through the evening. I was a passenger on the 2015 Euston to Manchester. We ended up 45 late after being brought to a stand for lengthy periods before Northampton and near Long Buckby, then making an unscheduled stop at Rugby. The train manager explained these additional delays as due to "a queue of trains" and said that the original problem was caused by a lightning strike on the OHLE.
