I wonder if they are regretting getting rid of the 312s from GE. With CDL and TPWS and they would have been good for a few more years. Then again, Angel could have made some money off them if they had held onto a few rarther than selling the whole lot for scrap in one go. It's always amusing, but sad at the same time, to think that the GE 312s were newer than some of the Mk3s 'one' are now running, and were introduced on the GN Outer Suburban services over a year after the 313s started on the Inner Suburbans. None of them even got to 30 years old, most being nearer to 25 years old when withdrawn. Of cource, had BR specified them with sliding doors, I'm sure there would be no questions about them still running today, probably being withdrawn around the same times as the 313s and similar types.
