I note that, in the L&NWR period, Oxenholme was signalled from three signal cabins which were, according to Brian Reed in his book Crewe to Carlisle, designated "Oxenholme No.1 South Box", "Oxenholme No.3 Yard Box" and "Oxenholme No.3 Junction Box" (is this correct, or was the Yard Box in fact Oxenholme No.2?) The station was, however, re-signalled in LMS days when two standard LMS cabins were built at he south end of the up platform abd the north end of the down, these being (presumably) Oxenholme No.1 and Oxenholme No.2 boxes respectively; is this nomenclature correct?

That is more or less what I expected, but there is a nagging doubt that Brian Reed has made a mistake in his 1913-14 list of boxes, which shows two No.3 cabins but no No.2!
