Depends what direction you are coming from.

There are trains into Oxford station from both the Banbury and Worcester directions tomorrow, following completion of bridge replacement just north of the station and the Banbury remodelling, and Chiltern trains between London Marylebone and Oxford Parkway, with the bus journey into and from the city centre included in the cost of the rail ticket.

Pad to Oxford. Are services running normal? Also, I shall be travelling with a very large suitcase. I have no objection to walking from KGX to PAD.

But with a large suitcase. What's the most "tube friendly" route. I.e. fewest stairs, and yanking luggage arduously!

I will start my journey at Cambridge. So can join the tube either at FPK, KGX, TOM or LST. But want to know the "easiest" way to get onto the yellow line!! Would LST be the best bet? Not really au-fait with the layout at LST. or the short cuts!

You haven't stated the date you require to travel. Suggest that if you are sure of the date, have a look at Real Time Trains and that will list trains that are running.
Please feel to come back if you need any more help.

As pointed out above, the engineering work between Oxford and Didcot continues for the next seven days, with the line reopening on Monday, August 15. There are rail replacement buses running between Didcot and Oxford until then.

As I said above, if you want to get most of the way to Oxford on trains, then the obvious alternative for the next week is to go to Marylebone rather than Paddington, and use Chiltern Railways from there to Oxford Parkway and then get the bus into the city centre.

Just put the journey into the National Rail online journey planner and it will show you the options - including a description of the Underground connection.

Don't bother with the train from London.

Walk along to or take the underground to Baker Street, cross to the South Side of Marylebone Road, Cross Baker Street, Gloucester Place and Balcombe Street and pick up the X90 at stop P.

They've got a massive hold to stow luggage and you'll probably end up closer to where you want to go in Oxford.

Regarding the Underground, there are lifts to the circle/H&C platforms at both Kings Cross and also at Paddington (Hammersmith Branch) so no steps involved at either station.

At Paddington you have to get the lift up from the Circle/Hammersmith platform (it is towards the front of the train as you get off). Then exit through the barriers and walk past the taxi rank to use the other lifts down into Paddington station
