I mentioned in another thread that my 12 year old had won a photography competition and had to go to London to collect the prize. Well we had half hour to kill at Paddington and here's the result........

That image was taken on a Canon Powershot A480 compact.

Basically on your DSLR you'd set exposure to 10 seconds, ISO down lown and go for it. Another good way of learning is on Flickr where they show you the model of the camera that's taken the picture. If you click on the camera name it brings up all the settings used for that shot.

I can't see the image (blocked from my work PC) but the light trail thing rings a bell. Are you on RMWeb as well?

Yes I am. Although I'm more of a lurker than a regular poster.

Sort of an ex-childhood rail enthusiast who still likes to keep informed about the railways.

I am glad that you encourage your child to such excellence.
    You deserve to feel proud.

Was the posted picture taken by you or your child?
And what was the picture that won the prize?

The picture was taken by my daughter. I only perform taxi or chaperone duties....

Tell your daughter that her pictures are appreciated even in hills of Kentucky.
