Hi all,

just wondered if anyone retired and left has ever done a driving role or train work on a advocacy basis. Asking on behalf of a driver I know who’s leaving for personal reasons but could do the odd few days each month really.
I’m aware of route knowledge and rules stuff just wondered whether anyone has done any driving and engineering roles really as adhoc?

Certainly some roles have a part-time roles, but I can't say I say they are often advertised. If someone did want to go part-time (who is already driver) they could probably arrange that with their employer under flexible working practices. As for new people, yes charters and some freight or even shunting drivers might be available.

Also keep an eye on C2C, for their last recruitment campaign for drivers it had been for part time drivers to drive during the peak hours. Might be something they run again.
