"The chosen candidates will be on a minimum 4 hours contract per week."

So not likely to be very well remunerated!

So it’s basically zero hours but with a minimum four hours a week. Difficult to know if it’s worth applying for based on what they have said, no indication of typical hours a week.

Possibly similar to a DRS train person who helps shunt wagons around by using hand signals to guide the driver around the yard, check over the train, fills in paperwork and manually changes points in the yard etc?

I assume it is a Trainman/Guard position. Train dispatch, safety of the train and incident management, preparation of the train, shunting coaches or running locos around if required etc.

For charter work it is unlikely to be directly customer facing - charters usually have a dedicated Train Manager which is a customer service role in charge of managing the on board service.
