G'day,

Just curious to know whether any of the original Paxman Valenta engines have survived? A preserved HST set would not be the same without that famous "scream". And for the record I'm a Deltic fan and as we all know HST's killed the Deltics!

Regards,

Richmond Commuter!

Quite a few Valenta engines were bought by the 125 group during the FGW re-engineering project, along with other parts. They quite possibly did the same when GNER/NXEC were having MTUs fitted as well.

Also, the NRM has a Valenta power unit which is being refitted to the prototype power car.

Don't the Network Rail owned HST Power Cars still have their Valenta's?
