Pendalino near Clapham Junction?

I saw a Pendalino being pulled by an engine car this morning along the the track between Waterloo and Clapham Junction. I was surprised to say the least! Any idea to what is was doing there?

Apparently its 390 055, a brand new set on its way to edge hill depot.
