I got quite a bit of help about Indian train travel from folk on this forum a while back. In these times of lockdown, with passports gathering dust, I though some might like to read a bit of my travelogue about India. It is hosted on a similar website to Railuk, so members do comment between my posts, of which there are 4. (Some costs and fares are detailed towards the last page, £1=100 Rupee approx.)
If anyone has issues with buying Indian train tickets, I may be able to give a little amateur advice. I am always pleased to hear any feedback from folk who have read my items...

I have read the travelogue and it was interesting. I learnt more about India than I already know, which is surprising as I am from India. If you do visit India in the future, I'd suggest that you should try to keep safe as possible, seeing how badly coronavirus is affecting India. Also, when travelling on trains, it's obvious but try not to hang out of doors like some people do, rail accidents are very common in India. Other than that, it was a great travelogue :D.

Thanks for your feedback. Bring able to open the train door to take a photo is part of the fun! Indeed, the situation in India is very sad with the Corona virus just now. I see that you are from Ilford, I worked for BR back in the day, part of which was as a guard at Ilford car sheds. I lived in Romford at the time.
You may care to read about some of my other India trips, sadly the photos no longer show correctly.

I wrote up about 2 trips, they appear in reverse order, 2016 is first at the top, and 2015 is lower down:

How were the trains in the UK back in the day. I was born in 2004 and my parents came to the UK in 2001, so all of us don't know about UK trains in the past. My favourite class is class 321, did you work with the class 321? It would be interesting to see how different they were to the present .

I left BR in 1983, so quite a long time ago, and, incidentally the year I first visited India!
Quite a variety of trains running on the Liverpool Street routes at the time. There were diesel hauled express trains to Nowich, etc, and some "sliding door" stock mainly for commuters. We had many "slam door" trains. The last trains I worked on were staring to get more "modern", the type 315.
Still many steam trains in India in 1983!

Did them 315's used to have those unique door alarms to them?
The 315's I think are going now

I am afraid that it is almost 40 years ago since I last worked on any trains, my memory is not good enough to remember the details. Sorry!
