Permitted routes Southampton Central to Leeds

Hi all, I've had a change of plans and instead of travelling Southampton to London Waterloo, Kings Cross to Leeds I need to go from Southampton to Birmingham New Street, New Street to Leeds. Would this be a permitted route? i assume so. My ticket is a super off peak, any permitted route, restriction 9D, to which 2V also applies. Any train (via birmingham) will be okay so long as it leaves after 9.30 am. Is this correct?
