What would be permissible on the above journey, apart from the North TPE or Calder Valley?

The ticket used will be an Anytime.

Any journey you can get an itinerary for on a booking engine ;)

If you need more than one via point, use Trainsplit. (It will offer one through fare if that's both valid and cheaper than a combination; if it's cheaper or necessary to split, it will attempt to identify the cheapest combination)
