10.03 kings cross to Leeds delayed now 40 mins at Peterborough due to passenger taken I'll. We shall miss our connection at Leeds onto S&C and have to wait 2 hours. Can we claim compensation ? Ticket is cheap advance purchase.

In a word, yes.

Delay Repay

If you are delayed when travelling with us we will apologise and make things up to you.

Our Delay Repay compensation scheme applies to all ticket types (including Season Ticket holders) and is irrespective of what caused the delay. The scheme applies to all tickets, from daily tickets through to annual season ticket holders and the value of compensation will be calculated on an equitable basis for all.

Customers delayed on East Coast services between 30 and 59 minutes will receive compensation of at least 50% of the cost of a single ticket or at least 50% of the cost of either portion of a return ticket (by 'portion' we mean either the outward or the return part of a return ticket).

Customers delayed on East Coast services between 60 and 119 minutes will receive compensation of at least 100% of the cost of a single ticket or at least 100% of the cost of either portion of a return ticket (by 'portion' we mean either the outward or the return part of a return ticket).

Customers delayed on East Coast services for 120 minutes or longer will receive compensation of at least 100% of the cost of a single ticket or at least 100% of the cost of a return ticket (i.e. both ways, not just one way).

The 10.03 arrived in Leeds 45 mins late at 13.05. But we missed our 12.49 connection on S&C, therefore had to take the 14.49 arriving at Carlisle 2 hours later than scheduled. As far as east coast is concerned, are we entitled to 50% or 100% refund as overall we reached our final destination 2 hours late ? We used advance standard tickets Kings Cross - Carlisle via Leeds at £25.95 each. Also would refund be in form of cash or travel vouchers ?

That's what my first thought was too!
Sorry, should have told you that when we left Peterborough 40 mins late the passenger, a young woman in her thirties, was sitting supporting herself on a hospital trolley on the platform talking with 2 nursing staff. I can only hope therefore that her condition was not too serious.

Hope lady concerned makes a speedy recovery & completes her journey.
Feel this thread is just a product of a modern world we inhabit, 30 years ago if you had an accident & tripped or slipped first thought would be I should look where I am going not call me a solictor.

These are single tickets. You will be entitled to 100% compensation as you were delayed by more than 60 minutes.

Compensation will be in Rail Travel Vouchers.
