On two occasions recently I've arrived at platform 2 at London Victoria on a 12-car train (375?) from Ramsgate. On nearing the station the automatic announcement has stated (after the usual "we will shortly be arriving at London Victoria ...") that passengers should not alight from the rear three cars of the train, due to the short platform. On the first occasion this surprised me, as I was fairly certain that all the platforms at VIC could easily handle 12-car trains. On the second occasion the guard buzzed in immediately after the auto message and advised passengers to ignore the bit about platform length, as this was not correct! Just wondering why this part of the announcement could not be excluded from the message - and why it's there at all; are there short platforms anywhere on this route that require SDO?
