Poplar goes to DLR Poplar

Bit unusual but the Kent & East Sussexs terrier Poplar was today delivered to the DLRs Poplar Depot where it will take part in several educational events. Photo by Brian Richards.

Was in our local paper that it was coming. I'll go and have a look at it tomorrow from passing the depot, but apparently visits to it are just a few small pre-booked groups.

It's primarily a educational visit in connection with LB of Tower Hamlet schools but it is open to members of the public next weekend in relatively small numbers that the depot and the guides can cope with. Booking is available here: https://shop.myonlinebooking.co.uk/kesr/buyavail.aspx?tid=62

Still there yesterday (Wed 22 June). Visible in the depot from the DLR station alongside. Unfortunately rear end-on and surrounded by barriers so not much good for photography. Shame the DLR didn't turn it side-on and put up a poster on the platform facing it, explaining what it is.

It is leaving the site this weekend. The positioning was limited by the space available for manoeuvre by the lorry delivering it. The position it is in also meant that those visiting could get a photo with Canary Wharf as a backdrop.
