Hi all, as some might know 70000 is due into Portsmouth On the 10th (Saterday) with the Pompey Pacific, does any body have times for this train as there not on the mainline steam tours site yet, also i believe theres a FGW HST coming to Portsmouth the same day on a tour, again does anybody have any times or able to point me in the right direction

Cheers in advance.

Does anyone know if you've got a provisional platform booked at the harbour at all?

Will it be terminating at Portsmouth & Southsea if it don't make it to the harbour? Or Fratton and running into the sidings?

I think I shall be taking a trip to Portsmouth tomorrow! (I of course mean today, but as I haven't slept yet I regard it as tomorrow, oops.)

Hadn't seen this thread earlier. Stepped out of my front door to go and photograph 70000 and saw the tail end of the HST disappear behind the trees. Anyone know what the trailing 43 was?

Can't vouch for the arrivals, but both trains left from platform 4. The HST left about 30 secs down on its booked time, and then 70000 and its train was brought in to the same platform a few minutes later, so it must have been waiting on the immediate approach to PMH. It left a few minutes later than booked but nothing significant - could only have been in the station less than 10 minutes.

The normal timetable carried on around these moves, definitely with a few platform alterations, but nothing too out of the ordinary...

I think quite a few SWT and Southern services were diverted into Portsmouth & Southsea low level Station and terminated, no big deal tho, all in all a good day, i got plenty of pics of 70000, 66197, 43030 & 43181 at Portsmouth Harbour, Portsmouth & Southsea, Fratton, Port Creek Junction, Portchester and Fareham, was great to see so much interest going on at this normally EMU/DMU Location.

Only those that are booked to do so anyway.

Yes - as the above departure times approached the normal SWT, SN and FGW services were all at the harbour as far as I could see. The normal Saturday timetable would see 6 trains from the harbour and 3 from the town, until later when the Southampton Central runs from the harbour.

The obvious difference I noticed was that the Waterloo via Basingstoke 444 was sat in P1, and various others were doubled up in platforms that would normally hold single trains at that time of day.

Well the train i came in on was meant to go to Portsmouth Harbour but only went as far as the low level at Portsmouth and Southsea.

It was the 12:24 from Portchester i believe, it was saying on the display at the station that it was going to harbour and said as much onboard the train but the on board anouncer im sure said to change at Fratton to avoid using the stairs or something like that, although a guess he could've meant in hindsight it would save people walking down the stairs from the high level, in which case i changed trains at Fratton for no reason.

That would be the ex Southampton Central stopper running as booked into Portsmouth and Southsea low level. The reason for the announcement is to allow you to cross the platform at Fratton and get the following FGW service there, rather than use the stairs to the high level platforms, the announcement is normal practice.
